Sam Neill Starring In Amazing Comedy Drama Remake Rams

The parade of remakes, taking film from other countries and translating them for new audiences, continues. This time it’s not Hollywood taking a concept and making it their own, its Australia, remaking Icelandic comedy drama Rams with Sam Neill and Michael Caton starring.

Jeremy Sims has just started the cameras rolling on the new version (he also directed Caton in Last Cab To Darwin), which writer Jules Duncan has adapted from Grimur Hakonarson’s Un Certain Regard winning original.

The story, relocated Down Under, follows two estranged sheep farmers who haven’t spoken for 40 years. They’re forced to work together when a rare disease threatens both their flocks. “This is a story about family, connected through land and community, and the relationships at the heart of those communities,” Sims tells. “Regional Western Australia is a vast and complex place, and the Great Southern has such a unique flavor that audiences deserve to see it on the big screen.”

There’s no word on a release date for this one just yet.
