  • Continued….

Sometimes we think we wish to die because we lack certain meaning in our lives which usually helps people to have a reason to wake up and look forward to the next day, a purpose if you will. He saw the Asian man close to death and badly dehydrated and had a ” higher calling” …he was graced with a purpose or meaning he thought he previously lacked walking into the forrest. Suicide attempts are often more of a ” cry for help” than that person actually wanting to kill themselves.

  • It happens a lot Doc. It’s similar to in ” The grey” liam neesons character is going to kill himself, but is caught outside in the act and stops. He then is in a plane crash and realizes he is the most skilled at survival and most keep the other men alive and be the leader. Like the qoute in the movie ” I didn’t wanna die, I just didn’t want to live anymore

  • When they make early editing errors and when there are inconsistencies in character I lose interest. 1. A less than half full bottle of water, which I would guess would already not be enough to help swill down the number of pills needed to kill given how much he drinks to wash down just 2 tablets, suddenly becomes nearly full as it is handed to Ken Watanabe. 2. I also asked why would a man intent in ending his life give water to a stranger; water that would be needed to allow for that suicide and why should he do so without the slightest hesitation? He travelled by plane, train and taxi to an isolated forest that is obviously linked to suicide yet her turned from being actively suicidal (a mind-set he must have had for days if not weeks) into a samaritan in the blink of a eye. That just does not make psychological sense and told me that there was “no risk” in the first place and hence no real arc was going to happen. That meant that any action taken by the main character was never going to be a meaningful manifestation of a change in his “heart” but simply turned the suicide plan into a plot device to allow him to meet Ken.
