  • I always thought Capra’s It’s a Wonderful Life was my favorite James Stewart film…until I saw this for the first time on TCM about a decade ago. Laughed out loud at some of the more subtle scene-stealers, like the kids in the park teaching the adults “The Big Apple.” This entire cast was phenomenal, their comic timing imoeccable: Spring Byington, Anne Miller, Lionel Barrymore, Mischa Auer, Jean Arthur, Dud Taylor, etc., all seasoned pros, co-mingling big box office with lesser known but equally capable performers: the casting was inspired, the script flawless, and the story filled with just enough transcendent bathos and pathos to sail seamlessly through the decades to still inspire both laughter and tears. Grade A+

  • Jean Arthur was a bloody gem, so sad she retired so early! Jimmy Stewart and Cary Grant the best ever
